A museum mission for the prosperity of the nation that is assumed to be a transcript of a radio address on September 18, 1940 by Sadao Araki (1877-1966). Araki was a famous military and a politician through the Taisho and early Showa period. He served as the chairman of the Japanese Association of Museums from June 1940 until around after the World War II. The museum mission for the prosperity of the nation was Araki's first official act of duty to the public. Araki's lecture might be based on a draft by Gentaro Tanahashi (1869-1961), a museologist in the Japanese Association of Museums. Araki modified and emphasized this draft for his lecture from his own perspective on the museum in the following three points; 1. Necessity for knowledge and understanding of science and industry for the prosperity of the nation 2. Importance of the museum available to the public throughout life as social education facilities for promotion of science and industry 3. Importance of a museum of different localities Araki actively engaged in the Japanese Association of Museums after A museum mission for the prosperity of the nation.
