Among the younger generation, Japan has seem a rapid increase in the number of "freeters" (job-hoping part-time workers), those who are also called "NEET" (Not in Enployment, Education or Training) or jobless people. It is also notable that many young people quit their jobs after a short while. Those phenomena have become a cause for social concern, and employment support for the younger generation has become an important issue. University students account for half of their own generation. In this study, a survey was conducted in two universities using questionnaires to inquire what students think about their own career development. Since carrer education is offered adequately in both these universities, it seems that the students have a higher consciousness of their own career development compered to other university students. However, the survey revealed the following facts:1.Although they think about their own future professions, they have few opportunities to discuss their strong points, their own aptitude, the meaning of the work, and so on.2.Although they are eager to get qualitifications, most of them know little about internship as a form of work experience.3.Although they are anxious to know about people who are successful in society, they do not care to read their biographies or autobiographies. Accordingly, there seems to be a gap between their consciousness and their action. In order to solve this ploblem, this paper proposes that it would be effective to conduct "Group Encounter" employing psychological processes, and introduce forms of career education in universities such as readership training and career counseling.
