A form of pentamerid brachiopod denoting the Late Silurian age and some corals are recorded from the upper part of the "Muth Quartzite" in Kiogad valley of Garhwal Himalaya. This finding implies that, in spite of previous assignment of the Muth Quartzite as of exclusively Devonian, it is a lithostratigraphic unit of largely Silurian age.
