In order to reduce height of a continuous casting machine without sacrificing its capability, unique design of the machine has been developed. Casting is made vertically to a straight mold, and the cast product is bent "progressively" inside a roller apron to bring it out horizontally. In this paper, the design philosophy of the machine is introduced together with the result of tests executed in the experimental machine; and the characteristic features of the method are discussed.
