This study reviews changes in rice prices in Asian countries for the period of 1950 to 1986.The domestic price changes in terms of producer's prices, wholesale prices, and retail prices of rice are analyzed in relation to changes in general price levels as well as in international rice prices, and also in government support prices which may reflect price policy attitude of the government.The study reveals that differences of the influence of international rice prices and general price levels on domestic rice price among Asian countries.But there is a tendency toward more strong impact of general price changes than international rice prices along with economic development of Asian countries.
