We depend on various artifacts in our dairy lives. Nowadays, artifacts have become more complex and difficult to use, as the technology has developed. Studies on how to cope with such situations, 'Human-Computer Interaction'or 'Interface', have mainly focused on the physical and/or spatial aspects of artifacts, or the relationships between a single person and a single artifact in an experimental environment. However, around the use of artifacts, we need to investigage in-situ activities in our everyday lives and focus on the relationships among humans, tools and environments. This paper refers to two cases of activities around a 'beeper'and examines several aspects of the interaction among humans, tools and environments. Through analyzing these cases. I would suggest the key consepts of "caring" and "learning" to explore the relationships among humans, tools, and environments, which could organize collaborative learning.
