筆者は北伊豆地方の基性火山岩の顯微鏡的研究中,その石基の主要成分の一つとして極めて晋通に珪酸鑛物(石英,麟珪石,クリストバル石)の存在する事を認めた.これ等の珪酸鑛物は本邦他地方の火山岩にも廣く存在するらしく,本邦火山岩の造岩鑛物として重要なものである.この論文にては,筆者の北伊豆地方火山岩の觀察により得た材料を基として,これらの鑛物の産出状態を記載し,その光學的諸性質を擧げ,それと他の地方に産するもの若しくば産出状態を異にするものとを比較した.
