In the previous papers we handled concering the critical condition of pulling into step for a salient-pole machine in case of ignoring the field time constant. By using the phase plane analysis and a digital computor, we verified that the best and the worst switching angles of D.C excitation are exactly 0 and π radian respectively when the field time constant is ingnored. In this paper, we discussed the phenomenon with taking into consideration the field time constant. First, an induction motor action befor the switching of D.C excitation is analyzed in order to decide the initial conditions of the pulling into step. Secondly, we pointed out that H.E. Edgerton’s definition with respect to the synchronization is unsatisfactory because phase angles to be pulled in are restricted between 0 and π adjacent of its initial angle. We newly defined the synchronization after the repitation of swings for N times. Thirdly, we discussed qualitatively the best switching angles and the effect of the field time constant upon the synchronization. Lastly, we showed the metohd to obtain a parameter chart for pulling into step after one swing, the results of which are compared with experiments We arrived at the conclusion that Edgerton’s differential equation is not satisfactory to represent completely the effect of the field time constant.
