Nawadays most of veneer are produced by rotary lathes, so rotary cutting of wood is very important for veneer manufacturing. Many men have made researches about rotary cutting, and this time I tried to investigate this problem in mechanical engineering situation. In a laboratry I could not use a rotary lathe itself, then instead of it I used an engine lathe for cutting. Picking up the torque I used a torque meter with strain gauges. Test pieces were cut in discs with 160 mm diameter and 80 mm length, and were previously treated under different seven conditions. They were boned, water-logged and dried. The experiment was divided into two parts which were (Experimet. 1) and (Experimet. 2). The one was about the boiled material at 80℃, and the other was about differentially treated materials. Through this experiment, I analysed the torque caused by rotary cutting under several cutting conditions and some conclusions have been gained as rhe description in this report. Moreover,about the thickness of veneer plate, cutting ratio and curling of coiled veneer some ovservations were examined
