Investigation of the seabed is an important issue nowadays. For this purpose, ultrasound images of the seabed provided from a side-scan sonar are often used for analysis. Two methods of analyzing the seabed are presented: automatic detection of objects on the seabed based on Haar-type feature and A daboost, and seabed sediments recognition using HLAC feature and the subspace method. Experimental results using real seabed ultrasound images are shown.
