• Since the fall semester, 2006, Suzuka National College of Technology (SNCT) has introduced a new form ofEnglish class to motivate and encourage students to learn English. The goals of this new form are to introducesmall group learning, to organize class based on English proficiency, and to motivate students to learn Englishthrough practical oral communication. Additionally, SNCT's emphasis on small group English learning acted as acatalyst for the creation of an English presentation course for advanced engineering students. The purpose of thispaper is to focus on the effects of this new form on third year students and to introduce the planned advancedengineering presentation course.
