We investigated production of ethylene gas by the thermal decomposition of the plant containing lignin. First, we heated every material 300-550℃ for thirty minutes using thermocouple thermometer. Next, we measured the volume of gas by water substituting and measured the concentration of ethylene gas using a gas-detecting tube. Production of ethylene gas was mostly obtained from the leaf of a cherry tree or maple, and the pine of the needle-leaf tree. We measured content of lignin by Klason lignin methods. The lignin was mostly taken out from the pine of a needle-leaf tree. It succeeded in carrying out thermal decomposition of the fallen leaves 5 g, and ethylene taking them out about 5% at the maximum at 550℃.
