Combined solar thermal and electric desiccant cooling system had been constructed in Tohoku University. On-going experimental evaluation of this system is being conducted. To predict the system performance, system modeling and simulation is performed in TRNSYS. The performance of thermal energy system is measured. The capability of desiccant cooling system in controlling air sensible and latent energy content is presented. Based on the over-all results, the solar energy contributed to the reduction of conventional thermal energy requirement of the system. In addition, the performance of the desiccant cooling is dependent on the ample supply of thermal energy. Henceforth, good thermal energy system design is a requirement for a good desiccant cooling system operation.
