In this paper a mathematical model of punching plate is presented. The model is based upon modifying governing equations by introduction of effective area coefficient, defined on scalar control volumes' faces, and pressure loss coefficient, which is evaluated at the center of staggered control volume. In that way, punching plate may be treated as a plate without thickness, i. e. no spedal consideration has to be made when generating calculating mesh. Also, a substantial reduction in calculating mesh is obtained. A fume hood was modeled and numerical results verified with measured data. It could be concluded that the presented model gives satisfactory results.
