Results of Field Measurement with Wideband MIMO Sounder at 11 GHz for Macrocell Environments

A field measurement was conducted in Ishigaki city with the developed MIMO (multi-input multi-output) channel sounder. One of the main streets of Ishigaki city is measured for resolve the propagation environment of the macrocell of mobile communication at 11 GHz. The employed antenna arrays are circular arrays at both the transmitter (Tx) and receiver (Rx); or linear arrays and 12 QAM arrays at the Rx and Tx sides, respectively. The circular arrays are designed for estimating the angle of arrival (AOA) and angle of departure (AOD) of the multipaths, and the linear and 12 QAM arrays are employed for measuring the MIMO channels. In this paper, we show the analysis results of the path gain that calculated from the channel transfer functions measured with the circular arrays and compare them with that measured by the linear and 12 QAM arrays. The eigenvalues and capacity results of the channels also showed for evaluation of the environment.
