• This study investigated demotivating factors for students of national colleges of technology and university students.The purpose was to find out the characteristics of the demotivated students of kosen, national colleges of technology,compared with those of university students. The participants were 333 students from 5 national colleges of technology and169 university students. They answered the same questionnaire. Those responses and descriptions were analyzed.The results suggest that college of technology students are not so often demotivated in their junior high school daysas university students are, while college of technology students are often demotivated while they are freshmen.Furthermore, proportion of demotivating factors is different. It is one of the main reasons that they have different academiccircumstances. Based on these findings, this paper discusses alternative way of grammar instruction and English programin terms of pedagogical implications.
