The purpose of this project is to create a collaborative learning model between students at Kosen andstudents at universities in foreign countries to develop awareness for their skills, and English competencefocused on speaking and writing to survive in global society. Information and Communication Technologies(ICT) are key devices used to provide students with opportunities to talk to other students in foreign countries.Students on the Japanese end are supposed to have one-on-one communication with students on the Americanend for 35 minutes every week throughout the year. In this research, some before-and-after surveys wereconducted and the results concerning awareness of students' skills show that students were well-motivated forEnglish learning through their research activities. As for English competence, the class average of TOEIC scoreof the class increased by 75 points. This suggests that the students' English competence developed considerably.
