Downing St, Cambridge, CB2 3E,1" Recently, the flight mechanism of the insect has been analyzed by many methods. Generally, it is a popular method to observe the insect with a supporting rod in a wind tunnel. However, the supporting rod interferes with the aerodynamic flow around the models, therefore the insect cannot flight in a natural way in this method. The purpose of this study is the development of the device for the natural flight of insect by use of the magnetic force control. At fast we tried to introduce the control by the magnetic force to the flight mill. We have developed "Flight mill with torque compensation" which introduced the control method using a small motor and a magnetic actuator. We also developed "Magnetic cage". They are one of applications the magnetic suspension and balance system to the flight analysis of the insect. We have tried the controlled flight experiments of bumblebee using this system.
