Frequency offset of received signal due to channel and local oscillator precision is a major impairment in wireless communication, thus many wireless communication standards specify preamble headers for the purposes of parameter estimation and timing. There exist many algorithm that tackle such problem, however, the complexity and/or the limitation of the estimated frequency is a real problem. We present a simple approach to estimate and correct the frequency and phase offsets, that also covers wide range of frequency offsets. The proposed algorithm was derived based on IEEE 802.15.4 Zigbee standards with OQPSK modulation. Nevertheless, the algorithm works for other technologies which makes it suitable for the the industry.
