This paper reports on the first stage of a project on digital classrooms for information technology classes in grades 4 through 6 in elementary schools Digital classroom is not a new topic However, in Japan there is a strong bias towards hardware-only solutions/implementations, while major projects overseas are roughly equal in goals and implementation to the one presented in this paper These differences are presented in this paper from both the scientific/academic and implementation viewpoints
