Plasma Perfusion Over Protein A in the Treatment of Metastatic Colorectal Carcinoma(Workshop1-12)

Thirty previously untreated patients with metastatic colorectal carcinoma were enrolled in a three-arm study comparing 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) supplemented with plasma perfusion (PP) over protein A, 5-FU supplemented with PP without protein A and 5-FU alone. We observed respectively 1/10, 0/10 and 2/1O responses in arms A, B and C, There was more non progressive disease in arm A than in B or C (8/10, 5/10 and 3/10 respectively).Side effects were mild and transient. Median survival and time to progression were higher, although not significantly, in arm A (17 and 22 months) than in B (10 and 0 months) or C (9 and 11.5 months).
