In this paper, we propose a calorimetric method for measuring ultrasonic powers higher than 100 W. Recently, high ultrasonic power measurement is required by medical ultrasound or sonochemistry. The conventional radiation force balance (RFB) is not applicable to the power that is higher than 20 W, because the target is damaged by thermal effect. The proposed calorimetric method is used as an alternative method instead of the radiation force balance. The ultrasonic powers measured by calorimetric method agreed well with those measured by the primary standard at NMIJ. We also showed that the measured acoustic power is strongly affected by the multi-reflection between the transducer and water surface.
