This report represents the fundamental structural characteristics of the concrete-filled steel pipe with inner spiral ribs height of which is 3 mm in average. The pipe with inner ribs is developed for the composite foundation piles consisted of steel pipe and filled concrete. The experiments of bond stress capacity, bending and shear load carrying capacities are executed. Being worried about the deterioration of the bond stress capacity between steel pipe and filled concrete because of the stain of pipe surface due to underground member such as bentonite or mud solution, the results of the bond stress tests reveal the excellent bond capacity of the pipe with inner ribs in spite of the stain. The results of bending and shear loading tests provide the conclusions that this composite member has sufficient toughness and is of great value in view of aseismic design because of its large energy absorption capacity which is given by the role of the inner ribs of the pipe.
