ED2012-99 Frequency domain THz spectroscopy and imaging with 1.55-μm fiber-optic technology and coherent detection

We present a terahertz (THz) frequency-domain coherent homodyne spectroscopy and imaging system based on fiber-optic technology. Using of well-developed fiber-optic technologies in 1.55-µm wavelength enables compact and flexible THz system. By using of electro-optic (EO) phase modulator for THz phase control, fast coherent measurement system is possible without mechanical delay movement. Push-pull EO phase modulation scheme is used to suppress the control leakage of EO phase modulation. With fiber-coupled uni-traveling photodiode and InGaAs-based photo-conductive receiver, broadband THz radiation and coherent detection are enabled for THz spectroscopy and imaging application.
