In this paper, we discuss the feasibility of an agent based autonomous assembling system. Most autonomous decentralized manufacturing systems that are using multi agent techniques have been studied. However, these systems have no advantage over classical central control systems, because these ideas have some difficulty of implementation in factories. This paper describes a virtual factory as a kind of simulator in a computer system for use to design a plant or re-layout a factory floor. Furthermore, by implementing agents into elements of a real factory, the concept for an agent based autonomous assembling system is proposed.
