This paper is the first report of educational outcomes of supplemental classes for the Pre-tech students.Since introducing a special admission exam, called the "AO Exam", it has become apparent that there is agreater disparity in levels of academic abilities among students. To provide an adequate learning, we plannedsupplemental classes by visiting lecturers. The classes offered were maths and English, and were open to allstudents regardless of their grades. Maths classes were divided according to the students' grades. Englishclasses, on the other hand, were mainly focused on English grammar. We then measured the effect of thisprogram, based on the students' results from a regular exam. It showed that the maths classes had a discernibleeffect on most groups, and likewise, the English classes contributed to an increase in motivation to improvetheir English skills. Although we are sure that these programs are worth continuing, we need to reconsider ourframeworks and the remedial education itself.
