• Slope failures are one of the serious social problems in Japan. Therefore, it is very important to forecast when, where and how large a slope failure occurs in advance. This paper outlines some technological methods to forecast location, size and time of future slope failure occurrence. Firstly, methods to forecast slope failure locations using geomorphic features variables are described. Secondly, methods to forecast slope failure sizes using three dimensional displacement data are introduced. Thirdly, methods to forecast time of slope failure occurrence based on displacement data and rain data are addressed. Finally, some prospective technological methods to forecast slope failure occurrence are introduced.
