• Energy supply in Japan have been changing after 3/11, 2011 Disaster because of serious damage of Nuclear Power Stations. There are many discussion for new basic energy plan such that it is a good chance to increase renewable energy sharply or so. I believe that fossil fuels are basically very important for primary energy. Coal should especially play a major role among fossil fuels as it had been because of its stable supply and lowest price. However, coal has disadvantage of CO_2 emission in its use. For continuous use of coal in the future, it is important to cut CO_2 emission deeply and make near zero emission coal fired power plants. High efficient coal utilization with coal fired power plant and combined cycle with coal gasification and CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) are discussed in this paper. Also, Utilization Technologies of low grade coal such as lignite of which huge amount is reserved in the world are mentioned.
