In 2008, the Japanese government announced that, by the year 2020, Japan should accept 300,000 foreign students into universities throughout the country. It is a valuable experience for Japanese EFL learners to have natural exposure to English, so having overseas students from English speaking countries participate in the class should be beneficial in teaching "communicative English". However, in the case of students with a low English proficiency level, it is challenging for English teachers to get the students to interact with native English speakers. The importance of the teacher's role cannot be overemphasized in creating a lesson plan. I have tried to raise students' motivation to actively participate in the class by coming up with various vocabulary games. By doing so, I succeeded in designing a series of lessons to boost the students' will to improve their English ability. In addition, I have provided them with opportunities to show the foreign students around famous tourist spots in the area and experience cultural activities together. In this paper, I want to report how I have led students who possess very limited productive skills to interact with native speakers and try to communicate with overseas students.
