This study aimed to examine the influence of work values on the future time perspectives and the career intentions of young adult workers. Survey data from 197 workers were analyzed, focusing on workers' abilities and financial rewards, and four subscales in the work values scale were confirmed by a factor analysis: 'seeking flow', 'confirming one's own ability', 'seeking financial advancement', and 'earning one's living'. From two path analyses, the following conclusions were obtained for both genders. First, 'seeking flow' directly had a positive influence on intention to continue in one's job or occupation, and indirectly had a negative influence on anxiety for the future. Second, 'confirming one's own ability' directly had a positive influence on goal-confidence, and indirectly had a negative influence on anxiety for the future. Regarding 'seeking financial advancement' and 'earning one's living', common results were not found for both genders. These results suggest the viability of a new taxonomy of work values and their functions.
