One of the alternative assessments that are used in all English courses at KIT is Extensive Reading Book Report Portfolio. For this assessment section, students are asked to choose and read certain English books at KIT library and write reports about them. How many books students should be asked to read for one English course; how to inspire students to read more in English and how to assess the students correctly through their extensive reading process have been hot topics for discussion in most of the recent meetings of the English Language department. This paper is not the answer to all these above questions. However, drawing on the analysis of the short questionnaire for some students of English VI, this preliminary study reveals there is a big potential that students like the extensive reading section with different types of book reports and illustrates students preference towards different methods of book report: written, online-recorded and oral.
