Eight flavonoid compounds were isolated from 50% methanolic extract from branches of Lindera umbellata var. membranacea (MAXIM.) MOMIYAMA, which were identified as kaempferol, quercetin, afzerin, avicularin, quercitrin, hyperin, isoquercitrin and rutin by comparison with authentic samples. Both Lindera umbellata THUNB. and Lindera sericea var. glabrata BLUME contained all these eight flavonoids and gave similar pattern when chromatographed.
