• This paper discusses benefits of membership in professional associations and identifies associations and identifies associations that were recommended by respondents to a survey of sport management practitioners. The survey encompassed six sport management career classifications: physical fitness, sport promotion, sport marketing, sport administration and management, intramurals / recreational / youth sport, and aquatics management. In addition to the recommended organizations, information is presented concerning the North American Society for Sport Management, an association founded after the original research had been conducted.
