Local heavy rainfalls hit wide area of Chugoku region of Japan on July 21, 2009. Landsides and debris flows were occurred here and there in Hofu city, Yamaguchi Prefecture and the rainfalls were brought by the "Baiu fronts" (seasonal rain fronts). Asia Air Survey Co., Ltd took aeronautical photos of post-disaster situations then interpreted the afflicted areas. Based on their interpretations, polygonal data were made and overlaid with the areas of higher values of flow accumulation obtained from 10m-mesh digital elevation model developed by the Geological Information Authority of Japan (Kokudo-chiri-in). These two areas were well coincided then it is strongly suggested that the values of flow accumulation affect the areas of damage arisen by strong rainfalls.
