Butterflies visiting flowers for nectar were studied in the urban environment of Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, in 2011 and the results were compared with those in 2010(Johki, 2012). Of 99 species of flowers recorded in the study area, 34 species were utilized as nectar-plants by the butterflies. Fourteen species of butterflies were observed to visit flowers, among which 12 species were the same as those observed in 2010. It was shown that the smaller butterflies had a tendency to utilize more species of nectar-plants than larger butterflies. The number of flower-visits by butterflies was greater in autumn(September to November). This was unexpected.
