In the stands of Sugi (Cryptomeria japonica) and Hinoki (Chamaecyparis obtusa), a lot of economically advantageus broad-leaved trees such as Keyaki (Zelkova serrata) have been establishing. The growth of the broad-leaved trees were studied in relation to the site conditions and silvicultured treatment of the stands to get the basic data for developing mixed-species stand of Sugi, Hinoki and some economically advantageous broad-leaved trees. The results obtained were as follows; (1) More broad-leaved trees including economically advantageus trees have established on middle and lower part of slope than on upper part of slope. (2) Silvicultre treatment including salvage cutting and thinning did not have a clear-cut effect on the establishment of many broad-leaved trees. (3) Although at present some broad-leaved trees were superior to Sugi and Hinoki in height, recent growth of sugi and hinoki are larger than borad-leavede trees, sugesting thet Sugi and Hinoki might become dominant to the broad-leaved trees in future.
