This study analyzes the nature of interactions between foreign students participating in the short-term (4 weeks) Japanese language program, and Japanese tutors. In addition, this study examines what the foreign students felt and gained through the activities by analyzing interview data. As a result, the foreign students made the positive comments for the activities in which both foreign students and Japanese tutors made their opinions reciprocally and which were proceeded by exchanging information. On the other hand, their negative comments increased for the activities which one of them took initiative and continued speeches far too much. Also, all the foreign students mentioned "development of friendship" with the tutors. This suggests the foreign students would like to develop friendly relationships with the tutors by taking reciprocal communications and taking the same position as them in the activities.
