Energy supply of Japan seems to be quite changed after 3/11, 2011 Disaster in Japan, because of serious damage of Nuclear Power Stations. This very important re-design is being discussed and it is said that it will be decided by the summer of 2012. There are many discussions such that it is a good chance to increase renewable or so. However, the author considers that coal should play a major role among fossil fuels as it had been, because of its stable supply and lowest cost. But no less important for the continuous use is to cut CO_2 emission deeply and make near zero emission coal fired power stations. Main discussion item in this series is energy saving, but high efficient coal use is energy saving itself. So concept of high efficient coal utilization with pulverized coal boiler and combined cycle with coal gasification are discussed. Carbon capture and storage is the other solution for CO_2 reduction. In this paper, high efficient coal utilizations as energy saving are discussed concerning pulverized coal, gasification and CCS.
