When Ag/SnO_2 is adopted as the contact material of the contactor with the rating current of 32 A or lower, the contact resistance is always instable, and the electrical lifetime of the contactor will be influenced rapidly. In this paper the contact phenomena with the rating current of 32A is studied. The experiment results show that the breaking arc is the main reason for the ascending contact resistance in AC-3 duty, while, the contact resistance can be decreased with the closing process. When contact resistance exceeds the upper limit, the mechanical vibration between the contacts will happen, and the contact surface will be damaged quickly.
