"The Deep River" is the final novel by Christian novelist ENDO Shusaku. It had a high popularity among readers. The novel is a corpus of his works, so there are a good number of themes. But now, I hope to focus my report on Otsu who lived with and for Jesus. He heard Jesus call him in his abyss of grief and immediately became Jesus's follower in the same way that the disciples who were fishermen in Galilee had. Otsu followed in Jesus's footsteps all his life, just as Jesus lived according to his father's heavenly orders. So, his life was very pure and beautiful -- as Jesus's life was. My hope is that we can understand the meaning of his death(the completion of his path)by the Ganges.
