• Choko Ikuta who had engaged mainly on criticism and translation brought out the play, "Enko", as his first creative writing in September, 1917, and three months later the play,"Aoihana". Till 1922 he wrote ten plays and two long novels. In the works of these years nemed his creative period, it is said, his quality can be the most clearly seen. He thought writing a play to be the best way in creative writing to express his ideal. So reading his plays leads us to know what he is. In his later years his interest in the religious became stronger. The plays, "Enko"and "Aoihana", are the earliest and most important works to express it.
