• This paper presents an overview of a course in thesis writing specifically designed for Japanese undergraduates studying English within a foreign language (EFL) context. The course provides students with the basic writing knowledge and skills necessary for documenting their research activities. All of the basic and relevant writing concepts, methods, and documentation formats necessary for completion of a thesis in English are incorporated into the course, which consists of lectures, thesis specific writing assignments, classroom discussions, consultation sessions for individual students, and final oral presentations. This paper overviews the basic contents of the course, including the thesis writihg process, the final evaluation, the expectations, and the obstacles for second language (L2) learners to overcome in writing their thesis.
