To identify the original plant of a crude drug called plau-noi in Thailand containing several antipeptic ulcer substances, seven species of plants of genus Croton were collected in Thailand and studied taxonomically. Studies on the extracts from them with thin layer and gas-liquid chro- matography showed that the extract from the crude drug plau-noi, obtained in Bangkok, had the same composition as that from the stems of Croton sublyratus KURZ (Euphorbiaceae).
