Recently, it is requested strongly worldwide to response to global environmental concerns, especially, "Realization of the Low Car-bon Society" is an important key word in our country. We are raising the improvement in efficiency of thermal power plant as one of the measures towards realization of Low Carbon Society. To replace aging thermal power plant with highly effective gas-firing combined cycle power plant, becomes an extremely effective means to achieve the improvement of thermal efficiency. In such a situation, for the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions, we replaced aging coal-firing Sendai thermal power station with highly effective gas-firing combined cycle power plant. This highly effective gas-firing combined cycle power plant in-stalled newly, the thermal efficiency is improved by adopting a new technology, the carbon dioxide (CO2) reduction in about 900,000 t/year can be achieved compared with existing.
