Modern developments in plate cutting for shipbuilding have been achieved by such automatic contour flame cutting machines as Monopol, Logaton, Eagle, Unigraph, etc. However, these machines can not mark off and also their capacities are limited by the gas cutting speed. Accordingly, they are not highly efficient in productivity. The optical marking method has been already put into practical use, but it needs hand tracing of the image projected. This paper describes about the E.P.M. process which prints markings directly on metal plate surface by full size, and can make up for the defects of the conventional process. The E.P.M. which had never been developed before in the world, is a new method of electrostatic photography to metal plates. Above all, another feature is that the sensitive material of the E.P.M. serves itself as primer paint for anti-corrosion.
