Is the Japanese press club system, Kisha Club, causing "Cat Copy Reporting" among mass media in Japan? This study analyzes news coverage related to "Takeshima (Dokdo) Island's Territorial Dispute" in July 2008 by the three major dailies in Japanese: The Asahi Shimbun, The Mainichi Shimbun, The Yomiuri Shimbun. On many days those papers had almost identical articles regarding the dispute in their content. The result shows that "three-papers-matched" accounts 31% and "two-papers-matched" does 35%. Most of the news sources in the articles come from public sectors, especially from governmental agencies and their officers.
