A screening test was undertaken to survey a pharmacologically active component(s) from 145 tree leaves collected in Hokkaido by a mitogen-induced proliferation test using mouse spleen cells. A potent suppression on the cell proliferation was observed in extracts of Cupressaceae leaves. Two active components were isolated from the leaves of Thujopsis dolabrata SlEB. et ZUCC. var. hondae MAKINO and identified as deoxypodophyllotoxin and β-peltatin-A methyl ether.
