• Waste-to-Energy (WtE) in Japan has been continued for longer than 40 years since the end of 1960's. The power generation efficiency has improved as the pressure and temperature of steam rise. The efficiency in Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) processing facility exceeds 20% recently. The installed capacity of WtE is approx. 2.3 million kW now, and the potential of WtE is expected to be 4.4 million kW. In order to promote WtE system more in the future, MSW facilities should be made large-scale by the wide area cooperation and it is necessary to introduce the system more in industrial solid waste facility. It is also important that wastes enhance value as the energy resource with economical support such as the FIT (Feed-in Tariff).
