There are many current shore protection facilities after more than 40 years after construction. Their maintenance and update costs are expected to increase due to the progress of the aging facilities. On the one hand, the occurrence of Tonankai and Nankai earthquakes at Shikoku Pacific coast side, global warming due to the future sea level rise and the increase of the flood tide disaster risk by the powerful typhoons at Seto Inland Sea side are concerned. Therefore, it is necessary to efficiently maintain the Shore protection facilities in the limited financial resources. The basic idea, "the planning concept of long life", is compiled by the review committee composed of the experts. It would become a reference when creating plans to extend the life of coastal management coastal conservation facilities.
