This study attempts to examine Japanese and Canadian language education policies by identifying their similarities and differences. To do so, Action Plan to Cultivate "Japanese with English Abilities" is compared with The Next Act: New Momentum for Canada's Linguistic Duality: The Action Plan for Official Languages and Plan Twenty Thirteen (2013): Strategies for a National Approach in Second Language Education. Such issues as overall objectives, classes, teachers, and motivation for learning are discussed.
